Part of healing includes so much self care- building and strengthening beliefs we have about ourselves- I spend a healthy amount of time meditating- in talking circles- practicing affirmations- sutras- & attempting to learn about my ancestry, my roots, & in nature. This piece is culmination of current self beliefs. Honoring the 6 powers- Fire- air- water- earth- the sky- & the sun- you will see a collage of so many 'I am' statements as a way to affirm and acknowledge these beliefs as I was creating the piece. The medicine wheel colors in the center of what indicates a two spirit butterfly allows me to know I am so many things and finally because of all I am- I am the medicine. I painting the border around the medicine wheel silver- because, yes there is always a silver lining.
